In this unique role, your mission is to take full leadership of the engineering department, i.e. you take ownership for driving the strategic direction of the department in close collaboration with founders, shaping processes in the engineering department and company that ensure excellence of technical execution and lead the engineers with empathy building an environment in which they can thrive.

🎯 What you'll do:
- Lead the engineering department of 8: (7 software engineers and 1 DevOps engineer), and collaborate closely with our Data team to bring AI-driven features to life.
Lead by example as a hands-on engineering expert: Coach engineers, support their growth, and foster a culture of ownership, learning and excellence.
Foster a team culture and environment in which the engineers can thrive, continuously develop their skills and take ownership for their areas of expertise.
- Set strategic direction of the Engineering Department:
Establish a technical roadmap aligned with company goals.
Lead technical execution, drive innovation and set technical standards.
Define processes across the full software engineering lifecycle that ensure high quality and productivity.
Work closely with founders to drive development of the engineering department and ensure company processes that enable the engineering department to work efficiently and deliver high quality work.
⭐ You’ll thrive in this role if you:
Bring 5+ years of TypeScript development experience and 2+ years leading engineering teams.
Take full ownership for shaping the strategy, making strategic technical decisions, designing and implementing good processes, and driving people development.
Are passionate about people management and experienced in leading engineers.
Are experienced in working closely with Product and Design teams to shape roadmap and direction.
- Are proficient in Cozero’s tech stack:
TypeScript, AWS, React, Node.js, and NestJS
Bonus: Kafka, dagster, dbt, Snowflake, Python
Have hands-on experience with a data Heavy product, designing and implementing reliable data processing flows.
Ideally, have a background in a SaaS company being highly familiar with tech and product processes in such an environment.
Are fluent in English (C1 is required).
Bonus: Bring data engineering / data architecture experience.
Bonus: Have deep experience with system architecture, especially in an AWS setup.

📍 Where You'll Work
This role can be fully remote within Germany, Portugal or the UK.
(Only 2–4 weeks per year are required in Berlin for onsite collaboration.)
🌱 Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range
€80.000 – €145.000 per year (depending on experience and location).
We publish our salary bands publicly so everyone, including our team, can see we're being fair and transparent. During interviews, we'll talk through where you'd land in this range based on your experience.
