🌍 Mission: What’s the Purpose of this Role?
At Cozero, our mission is to decarbonize the enterprise. But we know: even the most ambitious product, market, and strategy will fail without the right people and culture behind it.
As Head of People, you’ll be the architect of that foundation.
You’ll design and build the systems, experiences, and culture that help our team do the best work of their lives - while scaling a fast-growing, remote-flex company across Europe.
This is a rare opportunity to shape a company’s DNA at an inflection point. You won’t just “run HR” - you’ll lead the human experience of Cozero. And you’ll do so with the curiosity of a builder, the mindset of a product thinker, and the creativity to use data and tech to help people thrive.
You’ll be a sparring partner to the founders and leadership team, a trusted guide for managers, and an inspiring, human-centered leader for our team.

Cozero is moving from early-stage to scaling - fast.
We’ve grown to ~50 people across Europe, with a hybrid HQ in Berlin. We're serving top enterprise customers (like Rhenus, Vodafone, Zalando, Liebherr, etc.), and we’re just getting started.
But like many fast-growing startups:
- We’re seeing higher-than-desired turnover
- We’re rebuilding the People function (you'll step in post-departure of our former People Lead)
- We’re planning to grow the team by another 10–20 FTE in the next 6-12 months
- And we want to move from external dependency to internal excellence in hiring, development, and retention

🛠 What You’ll Do
This role blends strategy, leadership, and hands-on delivery:
Strategic Leadership:
- Be a trusted sparring partner to the founders on all people matters
- Design and own our People roadmap: culture, talent, performance, engagement, retention
- Embed core values deeply into how we hire, develop, reward, and grow
Talent & Hiring:
- Build our in-house recruiting capabilities
- Develop our employer brand to attract mission-driven, top-tier candidates
- Improve the upper funnel and own end-to-end hiring quality and experience
Culture & Growth:
- Champion team rituals, feedback culture, career development, and L&D
- Support and enable our managers as people leaders
- Drive meaningful improvement to employee engagement (e.g. based on eNPS feedback)
Operations & Systems:
- Own people operations end-to-end (with support from our People Specialist Lu Su)
- Manage payroll prep (executed by our partner DHPG), contracts, and compliance
- Implement systems and tooling for scalable people ops (ATS, HRIS, etc.)
✨ You Might Be a Fit If You...
- Have led the People function at a growing company, ideally in SaaS, climate, or VC-backed tech
- Thrive in ambiguity and like building the plane while flying it
- Combine emotional intelligence with operational discipline
- Are energized by new tools, data, and systems - from HRIS to AI in recruiting
- Believe great People functions use technology to amplify humanity, not replace it
- Have a builder’s mindset: curious, experimental, and excited by the future of work
- Bring both emotional intelligence and product thinking to how you lead
- Can zoom out (design frameworks, think long-term) and zoom in (run a payroll cycle, write a job ad, mediate a conflict)
